The International Netball Federation’s flagship Youth Event, Netball World Youth Cup 2017, will take place in Gaborone, Botswana from 8 – 16 July and netball fans the world over will be able to watch matches live, with every match available for catch up via the tournament YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/netballworldyouthcup.

Brand Botswana sponsorship partnership of P500 000, which will coincide with the 101 Days to the start of the NWYC2017 was launched at Lansmore Masa Square, on the 28th March 2017 at 18:00hrs.

The Draw for the Netball World Youth Cup Gaborone 2017 draw took place this morning at the Gaborone International Convention Centre during an intimate breakfast ocassion. The event was graced by the Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Deelopment, Honourable Thapelo Olopeng, Minister of basic education Honourable Unity Dow, Botswana Netball Association Patron, Honorable Botlogile Tshireletso, International Netball Federation president Honorable Molly Rhone and Africa Netball President Mr. Tebogo LebotseSebego.

Botswana Post is partnering with the Netball Family in a traditional yet unique way, through a ‘Themed Stamp Issue’ that will commemorate these Games. The NWYC2017 Stamp will go a long way in creating a legacy for Botswana as a country, for the people of Botswana and for Africa as a continent as it is hosting these Games for the 1st time since inception of the Competition in 1988.

The International Working group on women and Sport will on the 25th of March 2017, host a friendly game between Township Rollers FC and Platinum Stars FC (SA). The game will be hosted as one of the initiatives and strategies applied towards the achievement of the HeForShe Target 20 000. The HeForShe target 20 000 is a campaign that IWG launched in November 2015.

This weekend the Netball Operations Team for the NWYC2017 is going through an Induction Workshop. Part of the training is on delivering ‘Safe Games’. Games safe from judgement and discrimination by ensuring that all the participants know their rights.
The Safe Games program will be achieved in partnership with the Norwegian Olympic Federation (NIF)

The NWYC2017 LOC hosted a workshop for all Stakeholders, held in Gaborone at the University of Botswana LT3, Block 252 on 11th March 2017 at 8am.  The LOC members made presentations to  update you on theirs tasks, the ground covered and give a general update on the preparations for the games.
